Welcome to the Maddison Bignall Trust Website, created in memory of a very special 10 year old.
Please take some time to look around the site at the amazing things ordinary people are doing to make a difference around the UK and the world for the Trust.
We hope you, yourself, will become part of the family!

Hadrian Wall Bike Ride
Well done Ben and Graham!!! You raised a mighty £540. The money
raised will go towards the Trust's Care in the Community
programme. We aim to give children who look after a parent or
parents at home a chance to become children again, albeit for a
little while.
Matt and I caught up with them on Saturday Evening (3rd April)
to offer our support, also there was Bens Wife, Daughter and
Mum, who made us so welcome. Next day we saw them off for the
next round of their challenge. They finished at Carlisle Castle
where we all meet up to congratulate them on a fantastic
achievement.
A big thank you !!!!

March - Brain Tumour Awareness Month.
Please remember that March is Brain Tumour Awareness month. 450 children are diagnosed with brain tumours each year in the UK. If only brain tumour research could be funded in the same way as leukaemia and other cancers. More than 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer. 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year. They are the biggest cancer killer in UK children.
Please consider donating so the Maddison Bignall Trust can put some money to the Brain Tumour research at the QMC in Nottingham. Either donate on the Trust site or post a cheque to the address given on our site. Or better still organise a fundraising event - Such as wear a hat to School or work. Could be great fun to see all the different hats people wear.
Thank You. Jane Bignall- Maddies mum

Trust Announces Partnership with Derby Team Challenge
MBT is delighted to announce that
they have been selected as the charity beneficiary for the Derby Team
Challenge to be held at Church Wilne Water Sports Centre on the 21st May
2010.
The Derby Team Challenge is an
innovative team development event, designed and delivered by team
effectiveness specialist, First Ascent.
Local organisations can enter teams
of six people to take on a series of cerebral and physical challenges,
designed to improve all aspects of effective team working. Friendly
competition takes place between teams, and larger organisations may choose
to enter several teams.
Stage 1 challenges each team
to raise as much money as possible for MBT before the event takes place. The
higher the amount, the more points teams score.
Event Director, Laura Smith, says: "Derby Team Challenge is fundamentally about improving team
effectiveness in the workplace and raising money for a very worthy cause. We
are all working in very challenging times and this is an extremely cost
effective form of training and development. Participants will learn a lot
about themselves, develop a deeper understanding of each others capability
and have a really enjoyable day with lots of fun. It is designed to appeal
to all ages and levels of fitness. It is not the fittest, but the smartest
team that will lead the others home."
MBT Fundraising Executive, Matthew Bignall said, "We are delighted to have been selected as the 2010 event charity. It
will be a really exciting and enjoyable day, which we hope all of our
corporate partners will be willing to support. We will be delighted with any
fundraising efforts on behalf of MBT and it's great to know that
participating organisations will be able to see effectiveness improvements
as a result of taking part. In this way, everybody wins no matter where they
finish!"
Entry cost is £1,250 + VAT per team of 6 people (including lunch and use of all equipment)

Martha Parker
It is with great sadness that we at the Trust announce the death of Martha Parker.
Martha is Mother to Lee and Grandmother to Debbie (who is Maddies God Mother) . A lovely kind lady who brought a smile to your face, a lady who knew just what to say. She was the main stem of her family and will be sadly missed by lots.
Martha knew Maddie and would often talk about her. Martha understood .
Martha's funeral will be held on Wed 3rd March, Martha and her lovely family have asked for donations from the funeral to be put towards the Maddison Bignall Trust with a particular wish for it to be used on our Caring in the Community campaign, to help children who are carers to have some respite and have fun being children again for a while.
Please offer your prayers for this very very special lady.
Good night Martha xxx

James Njuguna
It is with great regret we have to inform all friends of the Maddison Bignall Trust that on Saturday December 5th , James Njuguna, the
co founder and Manager of Maddison House , was shot and killed.
In a country where violence is part
of everyday life , James continued tirelessly to promote and
support Maddison House. We were working very closely with James
to provide much needed funds for the 34 children and 5 staff
that depend on the well being of the orphanage .
James has always been a good friend
of the Trust , looking after, and supporting Jane during her 3
weeks in Kenya last March. He will be sorely missed by us all ,
he leaves behind a wife and child/We hope he now rests in peace
.
The Maddison Bignall Trust will
continue to support Maddison House in what ever way possible ,
our first task being to ensure that, in the short term , the
children are continually cared for and are able to have some
sort of normality over the Christmas period.
Thankyou for your continued support
The Maddison Bignall Trust
